Visakhapatnam, May 29: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against three alleged CPI-Maoist operatives in connection with a case involving the supply of explosives and logistical support to cadres of the banned Maoist organisation in Andhra Pradesh.
According to an official statement issued on Friday, the accused have been charged under multiple provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Explosive Substances Act, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

The chargesheet, filed before a special court in Visakhapatnam, marks the first in case RC-12/2024/NIA/DLI.
The accused have been identified as Naka Devid Raj alias Daveedu, Vijay Viswas, and Sodi Kesa.
Investigators said Devid Raj and Vijay Viswas functioned as overground workers (OGWs) for the banned CPI (Maoist) outfit and were allegedly involved in procuring, transporting, and supplying explosive materials to underground Maoist cadres.
According to the NIA, the two were apprehended by local police while allegedly transporting a consignment of explosives intended for Sodi Kesa, an underground Maoist operative.
The agency stated that its investigation uncovered active links between the accused and members of CPI (Maoist), with evidence suggesting they knowingly assisted the organisation in furthering its activities.
Officials alleged that the explosives were intended for use in attacks targeting security forces operating in Maoist-affected areas.
The NIA, which took over the investigation from local police in September 2024, said the conspiracy was aimed at strengthening the operational capabilities of the banned outfit and undermining national security and stability in the region.
The agency added that investigations are continuing to identify additional operatives, support networks, and logistical links connected to the Maoist organisation.
In a related development earlier this year, the NIA had also chargesheeted six accused, including three absconding members, in connection with coordinated attacks carried out by Maoist cadres on CRPF camps in Chhattisgarh in January 2024.
During those attacks, Maoists armed with automatic weapons and locally manufactured Barrel Grenade Launchers (BGLs) targeted multiple CRPF camps, including the newly established Dharmavaram camp in Bijapur district, injuring at least 12 personnel.
The agency had identified the arrested accused in that case as Awalam Bhima, Madkam Nanda, and Madkam Deva alias Ratan, while the absconding accused reportedly included a member of the CPI (Maoist) Special Zonal Committee.
Those accused were also booked under provisions of the UAPA, IPC, Arms Act, and Explosive Substances Act.
