Mangaluru, May 26: A three-day evening spiritual retreat in preparation for Pentecost Sunday was prayerfully conducted at Corpus Christi Church from May 21 to 23, drawing a large number of parishioners into a deeper experience of faith, prayer, and spiritual renewal. The retreat sessions on Thursday and Friday and Saturday, created an atmosphere of devotion and reflection within the parish community.
The retreat was led by Fr Bonavinture Rodrigues, whose inspiring sermons and spiritually enriching sessions deeply touched the hearts of the faithful. Through his reflections on christian living, repentance, and surrender to god, Fr Bonavinture encouraged parishioners to strengthen their relationship with Christ and prepare themselves spiritually for the feast of Pentecost.

A major highlight of the retreat was the solemn vigil held on Saturday evening. The extended vigil became a profound spiritual experience for the parishioners as Fr Bonavinture led them through moments of inner healing and reconciliation during the Adoration of the blessed sacrament. His reflections on emotional wounds, forgiveness, and God’s healing grace moved many faithful to prayer and introspection, making the vigil a truly life-changing encounter for several participants.
Fr Bonavinture also delivered meaningful sermons on family values, emphasising the importance of love, unity, prayer, and commitment in married life. Using biblical references, he guided married couples on leading Christ-centered family lives rooted in faith and mutual understanding.
The retreat was further enriched by the participation of Br Alban and the church choir, who animated the sessions through soulful hymns, praise, and worship songs, helping create a spiritually uplifting environment throughout the three days.
