Government moves to fix CBSE payment glitches with PSU bank support

New Delhi, May 25: The Centre has stepped in to address technical and payment-related issues faced by students during the CBSE post-result services and re-evaluation process, following complaints of transaction failures and system glitches.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan held discussions with Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to resolve the concerns and strengthen the digital payment framework used by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

Following the meeting, it was decided that four public sector banks—State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, and Indian Bank—will collaborate with CBSE to upgrade and stabilise its payment gateway system for post-examination services.

The initiative aims to build a more reliable digital infrastructure capable of handling high transaction volumes without disruptions. The participating banks will help implement stronger payment protocols, ensure smooth and timely processing of transactions, and enable automatic refunds in cases of excess or failed payments.

The Ministry of Education said the upgraded system is expected to reduce technical glitches, improve payment success rates, and provide a seamless experience for students applying for services such as re-evaluation and verification of marks.

Pradhan has also instructed CBSE to undertake a comprehensive overhaul of its existing payment gateway after several students reported difficulties during the post-result application process.

Officials said the joint effort between the Education Ministry, Finance Ministry, and public sector banks is expected to significantly enhance system reliability and ensure that students can access CBSE services without facing digital barriers.
