Two escape miraculously after car plunges into deep gorge near Uppinangady

Puttur, May 23: In a major accident reported near Uppinangady on May 22 evening, a car travelling towards Pattur in Kokkada lost control and plunged nearly 70 feet into a deep roadside gorge at Panjala along the Mangaluru-Bengaluru National Highway.

The car was carrying Prashanth Deraje, a resident of Deraje in Patrame village and the coordinator of Pattur Shriram Educational Institution, along with his brother Praveen Deraje.

According to reports, the driver lost control of the vehicle while travelling on the highway, causing the car to veer off the road and tumble down the steep embankment near the riverside.

The impact of the crash completely crushed the vehicle. Despite the severity of the accident, both occupants escaped with minor injuries and survived the mishap narrowly.

Soon after the incident came to light, local residents and acquaintances rushed to the spot and assisted in the rescue operations.
