Former Karnataka high court judge Indrakala B S passes away in US

Mangaluru, May 22: Former Karnataka high court judge Justice Indrakala B S passed away due to illness in Washington DC, United States, on May 21. She was 73.

She is survived by her son and daughter.

Justice Indrakala had earlier served as the principal district and sessions judge in Mangaluru. In 2012, she was appointed as an additional judge of the Karnataka high court, becoming the third woman to hold the position in the state. She was elevated as a permanent judge in 2013 and served in the high court till April 2014.

Following her retirement from the high court, she served as the chairperson of the Karnataka State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission.

Justice Indrakala was also known for delivering the death sentence in the sensational 1994 Vamanjoor multiple murder case in Mangaluru, in which accused Praveen Kumar was convicted for killing four of his own relatives.

A devoted follower of Mangaluru Shri Kalikamba Vinayaka Temple, she regularly visited the temple whenever she was in the city.
