Hyderabad, May 20: The makers of Jr NTR’s much-awaited film with ‘KGF’ and ‘Salaar’ director Prashanth Neel have officially revealed the title of the project as ‘Dragon’. The film, which was previously referred to as ‘NTR-Neel’, received an explosive introduction glimpse released late Tuesday night.
Production house Mythri Movie Makers shared the glimpse on its official YouTube channel and social media platforms at 10.52 pm, with both Jr NTR and Prashanth Neel reposting the video.
The four-minute-and-twenty-eight-second glimpse introduces the film’s dark and intense world, tracing references to India’s opium trade before and after Independence. Jr NTR is seen playing a ruthless and powerful character in a violent land ruled by criminals fighting for control over the opium business.
In several high-octane scenes, the actor is shown taking on enemies single-handedly with guns blazing. One striking sequence features Jr NTR standing atop a mountain surrounded by dead bodies, giving the teaser a grand and intense cinematic appeal.
The visual tone, colour palette and larger-than-life action sequences strongly reflect Prashanth Neel’s signature filmmaking style seen in blockbuster films like ‘KGF’ and ‘Salaar’.
The glimpse also introduced several key characters from the film, including Anil Kapoor in a powerful cop role. Actors Biju Menon, Rukmini Vasanth, Khushbu Sundar, Guru Somasundaram, Rajeev Kanakala, Ashutosh Rana, Anshuman Pushkar, Sidhant Gupta, Prabhas Srinu, Shatru, Shiva and Bhimal Jeet Oberoi were also seen in the teaser.
Fans flooded social media with praise for Jr NTR’s rugged transformation and screen presence. Many appreciated his intense performance and muscular look, while others lauded Prashanth Neel’s world-building and action presentation.
However, some viewers pointed out similarities between ‘Dragon’ and the director’s earlier films, saying the visuals and setting reminded them of both ‘KGF’ and ‘Salaar’.
The glimpse was released ahead of Jr NTR’s birthday celebrations. ‘Dragon’ is scheduled to hit theatres on June 11, 2027.
The film is jointly produced by Nandamuri Kalyan Ram, Naveen Yerneni, Y Ravi Shankar and Kosaraju Harikrishna under the banners of Mythri Movie Makers and NTR Arts.
The movie will release in five languages — Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.
