Preliminary Yoga Practice Session conducted at SCS Hospital ahead of International Yoga Day

Mangaluru, May 14: As part of the preparations for the upcoming International Yoga Day celebrations, SCS Hospital organized a two-day preliminary yoga practice session on May 13 and 14 at the hospital premises to promote awareness about the importance of yoga and encourage regular practice among the public.

The programme was inaugurated in the presence of distinguished dignitaries. The chief guest for the event was Dr K R Manikarnika, District AYUSH Officer, Dakshina Kannada. Other dignitaries present included Dr Jeevaraj Sorake, chairman and managing director of SCS Hospital, Rama J Sorake, chief administrative officer and Yogarathna Sri Gopalakrishna Delampady. During the inaugural address, Dr K R Manikarnika highlighted the importance of yoga and its relevance in day-to-day life. She emphasized the need to cultivate the habit of practicing yoga among the younger generation for better physical, mental, and emotional well-being. She also appreciated the efforts of SCS Hospital for organizing the preliminary yoga sessions ahead of the actual International Yoga Day celebrations, stating that such initiatives help encourage people to adopt yoga as a regular practice in their lives. In his address, Dr Jeevaraj Sorake highlighted the significant preventive and curative health benefits he experienced by regular practice of yoga.

Yoga expert Yogarathna Sri Gopalakrishna Delampady and his students Neena Pai, Susheela Kumari V, Veena Marla, Suma Shetty, Karthik Shetty conducted the practice sessions and guided the participants through various yoga techniques and exercises aimed at improving overall health and wellness.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from staff members, students, and members of the public. The organizers expressed their commitment towards promoting holistic health and creating awareness about the benefits of yoga in society. The Successful yoga programme will be conducted by the hospital.
