Ameesha Patel stranded at Dubai airport after UAE airspace closure amid missile strikes

Mumbai, May 5: Actor Ameesha Patel was left stranded at Dubai International Airport after her New York–Mumbai flight was diverted due to the closure of UAE airspace following fresh missile strikes.

Taking to social media platform X, the actor shared that her Emirates flight was rerouted to Muscat while approaching Dubai. “As we were about to land in Dubai, the airspace closed due to fresh missile attacks. We have now been diverted to Muscat and are awaiting further updates,” she wrote, expressing concern over the escalating conflict.

In a subsequent update, Patel said she had been waiting at Dubai airport for several hours. “Been hours and hours at Dubai airport… can’t wait to get home to Mumbai,” she posted, along with pictures from the airport lounge with her team. She added that it had been over 24 hours since leaving New York.

The disruption comes amid heightened tensions in the Gulf region, with reports of missile and drone activity targeting the UAE. Authorities confirmed that air defence systems were engaged in intercepting incoming threats, leading to precautionary airspace restrictions.

The ongoing conflict has impacted flight operations across the region, causing delays and diversions for several international airport.
