Mangaluru: ICYM, forest department jointly oragnises mangrove plantation drive at Thokottu

Mangaluru, May 3: A mangrove plantation drive was successfully organised in the Kallapu–Thokottu region under the joint initiative of ICYM Mangaluru diocese, the forest department (Mangaluru Division), and ICYM units of ECD, City and Mangaluru South zones.

The programme was held on May 3, witnessing enthusiastic participation from youth and volunteers committed to environmental conservation.

Forest department RFO Rajesh, ICYM director Fr Ashwin Cardoza, president Vijoy, secretary Maria, along with several young volunteers, actively took part in the drive. Around 5,000 mangrove saplings were planted during the initiative, contributing significantly towards strengthening coastal ecology and promoting sustainable environmental practices.
