Moodbidri, Apr 26: Following a dispute regarding the alleged encroachment of government land and road space at the Paper Mill plot in Pranthya village, an official government survey has confirmed that the property owner is not at fault.

The issue traces back to January 2026, when local residents filed a complaint alleging that a compound wall was being constructed by encroaching upon public land, reducing the road width to less than two feet. At that time, police had intervened to stop the construction work based on the memorandum submitted by residents.

Survey findings and clarifications

To resolve the dispute, an official survey was conducted on April 6, 2026, by government an digital surveyors. The survey took place in the presence of several neighbouring residents and concerned individuals.

The official findings established the following:

  • The boundary wall in question is constructed entirely within the property limits of the owner, and is fully compliant with surveyed boundaries.

  • It was discovered that the previous complainant and others had acted on inaccurate information.

  • The survey further revealed that a neighbour and his brother had actually encroached upon the owner’s property and that of another neighbour by approximately 0.75 cents.

Public apology and resolution

Following the verification of the records, the complainants acknowledged the inaccuracy of their initial claims. The compainant and the owner's neighbours have apologized for the unauthorized demolition of the boundary wall and the creation of an illegal access road.

In a gesture of goodwill to maintain communal harmony, the landlady has voluntarily agreed to provide a one-meter-wide strip of her property to facilitate better road access for the residents.

Official record

In a formal communication to the chief officer of Moodbidri, the property owner placed these developments on record, noting that despite being invited, no representative from the municipal office attended the survey proceedings. The matter is now considered concluded based on the verified government findings.
