Kavitha launches ‘Telangana Rashtra Sena’ months after BRS exit

Hyderabad, Apr 25: K. Kavitha, daughter of former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, on Saturday launched a new political outfit named Telangana Rashtra Sena (TRS), seven months after her suspension from the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS).

Kavitha’s exit from the party followed her allegations against senior leaders, including her cousins T. Harish Rao and J. Santosh Kumar, accusing them of “tarnishing” the image of KCR in connection with the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project executed during the BRS regime.

After her suspension, Kavitha had been actively raising public issues under the banner of Telangana Jagruthi, a cultural organisation she heads.

Notably, the BRS, led by KCR, was originally founded as the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) before being renamed in 2022. Kavitha’s choice of name for her new party signals a symbolic return to the earlier identity, potentially positioning her outfit as an alternative political force in the state.
