Annu Kapoor clarifies ‘Dudhiya Badan’ remark

Mumbai, Apr 24: Actor Annu Kapoor has clarified his controversial remark about Tamannaah Bhatia, stating that it was made in a specific context and without any inappropriate intent.

The controversy had erupted last year after Kapoor, during an interaction, commented on Tamannaah’s appearance in the song Aaj Ki Raat, saying “dudhiya badan,” which went viral and drew mixed reactions online.

Speaking recently to Siddharth Kannan, Kapoor explained that the remark was made while discussing song selections with his creative team during shows in the US. He said he was shown the video as part of evaluating performances and had simply appreciated the actress’s dance.

Kapoor also addressed the criticism, suggesting that the reaction was influenced by the use of Hindi. He argued that similar expressions in English would not have attracted the same backlash.

He further drew a distinction between appreciation and intent, stating that noticing someone’s appearance does not imply desire or inappropriate motives.

The actor added that he is open to apologising if his words caused offence. “If she felt bad, I will apologise,” he said, maintaining that there was no wrong intention behind his comment.

The song is featured in the film Stree 2, which stars Tamannaah alongside Pankaj Tripathi and Rajkummar Rao.
