Chennai, Apr 18: The Central Board of Film Certification has granted a U/A certificate to director Vignesh Raja’s upcoming action entertainer Kara, starring Dhanush in the lead, paving the way for its theatrical release on April 30.
The announcement was made by Vels Film International on social media, confirming both the certification and the film’s release date, while also building anticipation for its pre-release event.
The film, first unveiled during Pongal earlier this year, has generated buzz with its intense promotional material, including a striking poster featuring Dhanush and the tagline hinting at a gritty, high-stakes narrative.

Kara features a strong ensemble cast. Mamitha Baiju plays the female lead Selli, while K. S. Ravikumar appears as Kandhasaami. The supporting cast includes Jayaram as Muthu Selvan, Karunas as Kasi Maayan, and Suraj Venjaramoodu as Bharathan, alongside Prithvi Pandiraj in a key role.
On the technical side, cinematography is handled by Theni Eswar, while editing is by Sreejith Sarang. The music is composed by National Award-winning G. V. Prakash Kumar.
The story has been co-written by Alfred Prakash and Vignesh Raja, the duo behind the critically acclaimed thriller Por Thozhil, raising expectations for a gripping narrative.
With a blend of star power, technical expertise, and a proven creative team, Kara is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Tamil releases of the season.
