Udupi, Apr 18: “Wherever devotees reside, there the divine dwells-this reflects the essence of our culture. God is not distant, but manifests through the devotion within our hearts. When we pray with a pure mind and selfless intent, we can truly experience the presence of God,” said former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake.

Viany Kumar Sorake, speaking after inaugurating a religious gathering held at Bannanje Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple as part of the Ashtabandha Brahmakalashotsava celebrations on April 17, noted that regardless of wealth or status, mental peace can only be attained through divine grace. “If devotion, dharma, and values are imbibed in life, it becomes meaningful and fulfilled. Let us participate in this sacred Brahmakalashotsava, which is held once every 12 years, with faith and devotion, and become recipients of divine blessings,” he added.

Dr G S Chandrashekar, medical director of Adarsha Hospital Udupi, presided over the programme highlighted the importance of cultural events in preserving tradition and said, “Events like these showcase our rich culture. To pass it on to the next generation, such programmes should be conducted regularly. India remains a safe country today because of its strong cultural foundation. By preserving our culture and unity, we can aspire to become a leading nation in the world.”
