New Delhi, Apr 12: Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Sunday said India’s patent filings have crossed 1.43 lakh in the financial year 2025, marking a 30 per cent increase over the previous year.

In a social media post, Goyal noted that more than 69 per cent of the filings were made domestically, led by innovators from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Maharashtra.

He said India has now emerged as the world’s sixth-largest patent filer, reflecting growing innovation capacity and confidence in the country’s research ecosystem.

Highlighting the trend, the minister stated that India’s innovation engine is “unstoppable,” adding that such milestones reinforce the global perception that “Made in India” is increasingly driven by “Invented in India.”
