Auto-rickshaw gutted in fire on Bantwal–Belthangady highway

Bantwal, Apr 11: An auto-rickshaw was completely gutted in a fire incident reported on Friday at Murje Vishalnagar along the Bantwal–Belthangady National Highway.

The vehicle, owned by Bambila resident Revanna, was reduced to ashes in the blaze.

According to reports, the auto-rickshaw, which had a gas connection, was parked by the roadside after the driver noticed that the gas had been exhausted.

Soon after, a smell resembling gas leakage was detected, following which the vehicle suddenly caught fire.

Revanna managed to get down from the vehicle immediately, and fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident. There were no passengers inside the auto-rickshaw at the time, averting a major tragedy.

The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. A case has been registered at the Panjalakatte police station in this regard.
