Kadaba, Apr 10: In a move to curb environmental violations, the gram panchayat of Subrahmanya has imposed a fine on an individual for dumping garbage into the Kumaradhara river.
According to reports, the incident came to light when members of the local taxi union noticed garbage being thrown into the river from a tourist vehicle belonging to pilgrims visiting the Kukke Shri Subrahmanya Temple. The union members immediately objected to the act and alerted the gram panchayat authorities.

Following this, panchayat secretary Monappa imposed a fine of Rs 1,500 on the offender, identified as Shivamurthy Bindigalli.
