Transformer fire near hospital in Karkala triggers panic; timely action averts major mishap

Karkala, Apr 9: A fire broke out at a transformer near Sophia Hospital along National Highway 169 in Sanur, Karkala on Wednesday, creating panic in the surrounding area.

The flames quickly spread to nearby bushes, raising concerns among local residents. Upon receiving information, fire and emergency personnel rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control.

The presence of dry vegetation and construction debris in the vicinity caused the fire to spread rapidly, resulting in thick smoke engulfing the area and alarming residents.

However, prompt intervention by the fire department helped avert a potential major disaster.

Fire station in-charge Chandrashekhar, along with team members Achyutha Karkera, Lokesh, Nithyananda and Basavaraj, were actively involved in the firefighting operation.
