Fire breaks out in Moodbidri forest area; locals act swiftly to avert major disaster

Moodbidri, Apr 9: A fire broke out in a forested area behind Theresa Church and Little Flower Higher Primary School in Niddodi near Moodbidri on Tuesday night, destroying vegetation spread across nearly 10 acres.

Despite being alerted, the fire and emergency services reportedly did not arrive on time, prompting church authorities to inform local residents.

Responding swiftly, locals and church devotees joined hands to combat the blaze and successfully brought the fire under control, preventing it from spreading further.

No casualties have been reported, and the exact cause of the fire remains unknown.
