Priyanka Gandhi targets Kerala govt, says MP role being undermined

Kozhikode, Apr 6: Congress leader and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday alleged that she is not being allowed to function effectively as a Member of Parliament, citing a lack of cooperation from the Kerala government led by Pinarayi Vijayan.

Addressing an election rally in Thiruvambady in support of UDF candidate C.K. Kasim, she claimed that repeated attempts to coordinate with the state administration to resolve public issues have been unsuccessful.

Highlighting key concerns, Priyanka pointed to the rising incidents of wild animal attacks as a major issue in the region, stating that lives are being lost every year and accusing the government of failing to act despite the seriousness of the situation.

She also launched a sharp attack on the ruling Left Democratic Front, alleging corruption in governance and irregularities in the awarding of contracts. She further claimed that there was a tacit understanding between the CPI(M) and the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Turning her criticism toward the Centre, Priyanka accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of being unresponsive to both domestic and global challenges. She alleged that policy decisions have adversely affected farmers and that the government has failed to adequately address humanitarian concerns.

She also raised the issue of unemployment, noting that many educated youth in Kerala are being forced to seek opportunities outside the state due to a lack of jobs.

With campaigning entering its final stretch, her remarks reflect the Congress-led United Democratic Front’s strategy to intensify its attack on both the state and central governments ahead of polling day.
