Udupi, Apr 2: The CSI Lombard Memorial (Mission) Hospital, Udupi, is set to take a significant step toward strengthening community healthcare with the inauguration of Lombard Mission Hospital Health Centre at Katapady. The inaugural ceremony will be held on April 4, at 10.30 am near the Katapady bus stand.
Addressing the media during the press conference held on April 2, at Udupi Press Club, Dr Sushil Jathanna said, “The new health centre has been established with the objective of providing accessible, affordable, and compassionate healthcare services to the people of Katapady and surrounding areas. The centre will be formally inaugurated and blessed by Hemachandra Kumar, bishop of the CSI Karnataka Southern Diocese (KSD).”


Dr Sushil Jathanna further stated, “This health centre reflects our mission to serve with compassion and excellence. We are committed to reaching communities where access to healthcare is limited. Our goal is to ensure that no one is deprived of essential medical services.”
The event will be attended by Vinay Kumar Sorake, former minister and former MLA, Kaup; Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo, director, FMCI and administrator, FMHMC & H; Dr A Ravindranath Shetty, Saraswati Clinic and Nursing Home, Katpady; Prabha B Shetty, former president, Katapady gram panchayat, Mohd Shamsuddin, entrepreneur; Prashanth Jathanna, director, Minority Development Corporation, Government of Karnataka; Ivan D Soans, treasurer, CSI-KSD; Kishore Kumar, area chairman, Udupi, CSI-KSD; Akshay Ammanna, Presbyter-in-charge, CSI Christ Church, Ambady and Stephen Karkada, associate secretary, CSI-KSD.
The program will be presided over by Dr Sushil Jathanna, director of CSI Lombard Memorial (Mission) Hospital, Udupi.
The establishment of this health centre reflects the hospital’s ongoing commitment to extending quality healthcare beyond its main campus. The centre aims to address primary healthcare needs, promote preventive care, and serve as a vital link connecting rural communities with specialized medical services.
