Amaravati, Apr 1: Andhra Pradesh chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday affirmed that Amaravati will remain the state’s sole capital, declaring that “no one can touch it” in the future.
Naidu welcomed the passage of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha, which grants statutory recognition to Amaravati as the official capital. Speaking at a public meeting during the ‘Pedala Sevalo’ (At the Service of the Poor) programme in Vinjamuru, Nellore district, the Chief Minister described Amaravati as a symbol of the state’s self-respect and hailed the Bill as a milestone that removes long-standing uncertainties regarding the capital’s future.

He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and leaders from multiple parties who supported the legislation. Naidu also criticized previous administrations for proposing a three-capitals plan, alleging it caused confusion and neglected legislative responsibilities.
On X, the chief minister called the development “historic and emotional” for Andhra Pradesh. He said, “With the passage of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha, recognising Amaravati as our sole Praja Rajadhani, the aspirations of millions have found expression in Parliament. I extend heartfelt gratitude to the Union NDA government and all MPs who supported this decisive step, honoring the sacrifices of our farmers. We hope for similar support in the Rajya Sabha.”
