Mangaluru, Apr 1: The Mangala College of Physiotherapy successfully conducted the inaugural function of the Mangala Magnus Cup 2026, marking the commencement of the Inter College Physio Box Cricket League (Season 4) for both men and women.
The event was held on March 27 and 28 at the Mangala Magnus Artificial Turf Ground, located within the college campus at Neermarga, Mangalore. The inauguration ceremony was graced by the chief guest, Shrinivas Nayak Indaje, state executive committee member of the Karnataka Union of Working Journalists, Bengaluru, who addressed the gathering and encouraged students to actively participate in sports alongside academics.











The function was presided over by Dr Ganapathi P, chairman of the Mangala Group of Educational Institutions, along with Dr Bharath K H, organising chairman of the Mangala Magnus Cup 2026. The dignitaries highlighted the importance of physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship in student life.
The inaugural ceremony was followed by the commencement of matches, setting an energetic tone for the tournament. The event brought together physiotherapy students from various colleges who actively participated in the box cricket tournament, showcasing enthusiasm, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
There were 14 girls team and 16 boys team. The league was conducted for both men and women, ensuring inclusive participation and a competitive spirit throughout the matches. Several teams competed for top honors, and the event concluded with the distribution of awards, including Winner and Runner-Up trophies, along with individual recognitions such as man/woman of the series, best batsman, and best bowler in both categories and the winnner’s are Kanachur college of physiotherapy (boys), runners are Mangala College of Physiotherapy (boys) and winners for girls are Mangala College of Physiotherapy (girls) and runners are Yenepoya College of Physiotherapy (girls).
The tournament, organized under the guidance of Dr Bharath K H, was a grand success, providing a lively platform for students to exhibit their cricketing skills while promoting fitness, unity, and inter-college bonding.
