Bengaluru, Mar 30: Multi-lingual actor Prakash Raj’s mother, Swarnalatha (85), passed away on Monday, March 30, in Hyderabad. She had been suffering from age-related ailments for some time, reports said.

Swarnalatha hailed from Gadag. In an earlier interview, Prakash Raj had shared details about his mother’s difficult childhood and inspiring journey.

“My mother was from Gadag. She was an orphan. When my grandmother passed away, my mother was just 12 years old. She grew up in an orphanage in Belagavi. After completing her nursing training, she came to Bengaluru,” he had said.

He had also mentioned that his father was from Mangaluru and had moved to Bengaluru, where his parents got married. “My father had his own beliefs, my mother had her own faith in God, and my beliefs are different,” he had added.

Recalling her sacrifices, he said, “My mother educated all of us. Her sacrifices are invaluable. My father was not working regularly. It was my mother who got my sister married. She would stand before God, argue, and pray.”

Born on March 26, 1965, Prakash Raj is a noted actor, filmmaker, producer, television host, and politician, known for his work across Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, and English films.
