Jammu, Mar 26: Chief minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday stated that there should be no objection if Pakistan successfully mediates a truce in the ongoing conflict involving the US, Israel, and Iran.
Addressing reporters, he said, “If Pakistan has good relations with both Israel and Iran and if the US Vice-President is coming there to discuss a peace proposal through which peace can be brought in the region, why should you or I have any objection to it?”
The remarks come amid ongoing sensitivities in the Kashmir Valley, which has a significant Shia Muslim population. Following the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in joint US-Israel strikes on February 28, both Shia and Sunni communities in the Valley held widespread, peaceful protests.

Authorities had imposed restrictions to prevent anti-social elements from exploiting the gatherings and maintain law and order. CM Abdullah personally visited Srinagar to engage with community, religious, and business leaders, urging citizens to observe mourning with dignity—a message that received widespread positive response and helped restore normalcy.
Meanwhile, residents in the Valley and Kargil have been contributing donations for the victims in Iran. Despite appeals from India for a ceasefire, the conflict between Iran and Israel has continued intensely over the past 27 days.
