Aakhri Sawal set for May 2026 release, explores untold historical narrative

Mumbai, Mar 26: In Mumbai, the makers of the upcoming film Aakhri Sawal, starring Sanjay Dutt, have officially announced its theatrical release date as May 15, 2026.

The announcement was made via social media, accompanied by a striking new poster. The caption hinted at the film’s central theme, building anticipation by describing it as a story addressing a question that has long intrigued the nation.

Alongside Sanjay Dutt, the film features a strong ensemble cast including Amit Sadh, Namashi Chakraborty, Sameera Reddy, Tridha Choudhury, and Neetu Chandra. The project is directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Abhijeet Mohan Warang.

Warang, who made his directorial debut with the Marathi film Picasso, earned a Special Mention at the 67th National Film Awards. Over the years, he has built a reputation for crafting meaningful cinema across Marathi and Hindi industries, with works such as Deja Vu, Prem Pratha Dhumshan, Piccolo, and the short film Virtual Reality.

Aakhri Sawal aims to present a compelling narrative inspired by the 100-year journey of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, founded in 1925 by Keshav Baliram Hedgewar. The film promises to delve into a crucial historical meeting that is said to have influenced the course of the nation, offering perspectives that go beyond conventional history books.

Focusing on the philosophy of selfless service, the film seeks to address the curiosity and questions surrounding the organisation, particularly among younger generations, by shedding light on lesser-known aspects of its legacy.

The film is presented by Nikhil Nanda and Dhanraj Nathwani, produced by Nikhil Nanda and Sanjay Dutt, and co-produced by Puneet Nanda, Dr. Deepak Singh, Gaurav Dubey, and Ujjwal Anand.
