Udupi: Fire breaks out at scrap shop; massive loss reported

Udupi, Mar 25:
A massive fire broke out at a scrap shop near Kallapu, Katapadi resulting in the destruction of a large quantity of stored scrap material and causing significant financial loss.

The scrap, which had been collected and stocked in an open area adjacent to the shop, reportedly caught fire around 2 am March 24. Commuters traveling on the highway noticed the flames and immediately alerted the shop owner using the contact number displayed on the establishment's signboard.

The Udupi district fire department was also promptly informed of the mishap.

 

A fire brigade team, led by assistant fire station officer Ravindra, arrived at the spot at approximately 3 am and initiated operations to douse the flames.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Local authorities are investigating the incident to determine the extent of the damage.
