Mangaluru, Mar 24: World Tuberculosis Day was observed on March 23 at the Milagres Nursing College Auditorium with great enthusiasm and active participation. The programme aimed to create awareness about tuberculosis and emphasize the importance of its prevention and treatment.
The event began with the ceremonial lamp lighting by the dignitaries, symbolizing the dispelling of ignorance and the spread of knowledge. The gathering was warmly welcomed by Ashley, a 2nd year BSc nursing student.




















The highlight of the programme was an informative talk delivered by Manoj K, district PPM coordinator and resource person. He stressed the importance of early detection and adherence to medication.
Principal Dr.Diana Lobo addressed the gathering and highlighted the significance of observing World TB Day and the role of students in spreading awareness and working towards a TB-free society.
As part of the celebration, an intercollegiate reels competition was conducted on the theme of TB awareness. Students from various colleges actively participated, showcasing their creativity and awareness on the subject. The winners of the competition were from Kannachur, represented by the 3rd year BSc nursing students. They were awarded cash prizes and certificates in recognition of their outstanding performance and innovative presentations.
Around 100 students from Milagres Nursing College and Milagres CBSE Central School participated in the programme, making it a grand success. The programme was smoothly compered by Anushka, who guided the audience throughout the event. During the programme, the resource person highlighted the importance of creating awareness about tuberculosis, emphasizing early detection, proper treatment, and community involvement in eliminating the disease.
On the occasion of World TB Day, on March 24, an awareness rally was organized in collaboration with district TB control centre, Mangaluru DK to educate the public about tuberculosis and its prevention. The rally was inaugurated by Dr Khathija Dilshad, TB officer of Wenlock Hospital. Dr Alwin Serrao, campus director of Milagres Educational Institutions, declared the rally open and encouraged students to actively participate in spreading awareness. The rally aimed to spread awareness among the public and promote a sense of collective responsibility toward eradicating tuberculosis.
The programme concluded successfully, leaving a strong message about the importance of awareness, prevention, and collective responsibility in eliminating tuberculosis.
