Imphal, Mar 23: Security forces, along with Manipur Police, arrested 15 militants, including a minor, belonging to two banned outfits in separate operations and recovered explosives, including a rocket-propelled grenade, officials said on Monday.
According to police, a counter-insurgency operation was launched on Sunday in Thoubal district based on specific intelligence inputs about militant presence.
During the operation, 14 cadres of the banned United National Liberation Front (Koireng faction) were detained and arrested from the spot. The outfit is among the oldest insurgent groups in Manipur.

Security forces seized 15 automatic assault rifles, around 100 live INSAS rounds, ?1 lakh in cash, and four vehicles during the operation.
In a separate action, an active member of the banned People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (Pro) was arrested from his residence.
Additionally, security personnel recovered seven explosives, including a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) and live ammunition, from Churachandpur district.
A senior police official termed the crackdown a major success, stating that similar operations would continue across the state to curb militant activities.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
