Gurugram, Mar 20: A 30-year-old Bangladeshi national has been arrested for allegedly sending fake bomb threat emails to several schools in Gurugram, triggering panic among students, teachers, and parents.
The accused, identified as Saurabh Vishwas alias Michael, had reportedly entered India illegally nearly nine years ago and was living in West Bengal using forged documents, police said.
The case surfaced on January 28 after multiple schools received emails claiming bombs had been planted on their premises. Authorities immediately launched a large-scale response, deploying dog squads, bomb disposal units, and fire brigade teams to inspect the campuses. No explosives were found.

Following the incident, the Cyber South Gurugram police initiated a probe to trace the origin of the emails. On March 19, the accused was arrested from Gujarat.
During questioning, police found that Vishwas initially worked as a labourer at an automobile company after entering India. Over time, he developed skills in digital marketing and graphic design and had been working as a freelancer for the past five years.
Investigators revealed that Vishwas was part of a Facebook group where he came in contact with a Bangladeshi individual identified as Mamunur Rashid. Rashid allegedly asked him to provide Gmail IDs in exchange for cryptocurrency payments in US dollars.
Police said Vishwas supplied around 300 Gmail IDs and received approximately 250 USD. One of these accounts was later used to send the hoax bomb threat emails to Gurugram schools.
Further investigation is underway to trace other links in the case and determine the full extent of the network.
