New Delhi, Mar 17: The Rajya Sabha on Monday saw BJP OBC Morcha national president and member Dr K Laxman raise the demand for including several state-recognised OBC communities in the central OBC list.
Speaking during Zero Hour, Dr Laxman, who is also a member of the BJP’s Central Election Committee (CEC), highlighted that numerous OBC communities in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra are recognised in their respective state lists but remain absent from the central list despite recommendations by the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC).

He noted that the NCBC has recommended including 27 castes from Telangana and five from Andhra Pradesh in the central OBC list. Urging the government to act, Laxman stressed that this inclusion would provide these communities with rightful benefits and opportunities, promoting social justice and empowerment for backward sections across the country.
Dr Laxman underlined that the demand for inclusion of several OBC communities from these states in the central list has been long-standing and called for timely government action to address it.
