Mangaluru, Mar 17: Bringing cheer to coastal travellers during the Ugadi festivities, the South Western Railway has announced a special train service from Bengaluru to Madgaon via the coastal route, aimed at easing the surge in passenger traffic.
With the number of travellers heading home for the festival expected to rise sharply, the railway authorities said the special train will operate to provide convenient connectivity between Bengaluru and several key stations along the coastal belt.

According to the railway announcement, the special train (06267/06268) will run on March 18 and 19, connecting Bengaluru with major coastal destinations including Mangaluru and Udupi, before reaching Madgaon in Goa.
Train schedule
Train No. 06267 (Yeshwantpur – Madgaon): The special train will depart from Yeshwantpur Junction Railway Station on March 18, halting at several important stations along the coastal route before reaching Madgaon.
Train No. 06268 (Madgaon – Bengaluru Cantonment): On its return journey, the train will leave Madgaon on March 19 and terminate at Bengaluru Cantonment Railway Station.
Halt at key coastal stations
The train will stop at several prominent stations including Mangaluru Central Railway Station, Mangaluru Junction Railway Station, Surathkal Railway Station, Udupi Railway Station, Kundapura Railway Station, Mookambika Road Byndoor Railway Station, Bhatkal Railway Station, Murdeshwar Railway Station, Kumta Railway Station, Gokarna Road Railway Station, Ankola Railway Station, and Karwar Railway Station.
24-coach special train
The train will comprise 24 coaches, including sleeper class compartments, general coaches and luggage vans, arranged to cater to the expected rush of passengers during the festival period.
Railway officials noted that a large number of passengers travel from Bengaluru to coastal districts such as Udupi, Uttara Kannada, and Goa during the Ugadi festival. The special train service has been introduced to ease congestion and ensure smoother travel for passengers heading to their hometowns for the celebrations.
