Mangaluru: Weekly Mangaluru–Rameswaram Express commences operations

Mangaluru, Mar 15: The much-awaited weekly train service between Mangaluru and Rameswaram officially commenced its operations on March 14. While the service from Mangaluru began on Saturday, the return journey from Rameswaram is set to start on Sunday, March 15.

According to a press release from the Palakkad Division of Southern Railway, the Mangaluru Central–Rameswaram Weekly Express (Train No. 16622) will depart from Mangaluru Central every Saturday at 7:30 pm. The train is scheduled to reach Rameswaram at 10:50 am the following day.

In the return direction, the Rameswaram–Mangaluru Central Weekly Express (Train No. 16621) will depart from Rameswaram every Sunday at 3:30 pm. It is scheduled to arrive at Mangaluru Central at 6:55 am on Monday.

The introduction of this direct weekly service is expected to significantly benefit pilgrims and travelers frequently commuting between the coastal city and the temple town of Rameswaram.
