Chennai, Mar 13: The makers of the upcoming web series Muthu Alias Kaattaan, starring Vijay Sethupathi in the lead, on Friday released an intense and intriguing trailer, heightening anticipation among fans and cinephiles.

The series is created by National Award-winning filmmaker M. Manikandan and co-directed by B. Ajith Kumar. While an earlier teaser had sparked curiosity by showing the shocking discovery of Muthu’s severed head, the newly released trailer broadens the narrative with multiple characters offering conflicting accounts about the mysterious figure.

Through these differing perspectives, the story raises questions—was Muthu a feared outlaw or a misunderstood hero? The trailer hints at a complex narrative where truth slowly emerges as the mystery around his life and death deepens.

Apart from Sethupathi, the series also features actors Milind Soman, Sudev Nair, and Muthukumar in important roles.

Speaking about the project, Vijay Sethupathi said he was immediately drawn to the character when Manikandan first narrated the story. “He shared a six-page synopsis, and I was instantly hooked by the character and the world he had created. Working on this series gave me a sense of peace as an actor, and I hope audiences find something meaningful when they watch it,” he said.

Milind Soman also shared his excitement, saying the series stood out because of its gripping storyline and bold characters. He added that playing the role of Sivettan was creatively challenging and working with Sethupathi and the team was an exhilarating experience.

The series’ visual style is crafted by cinematographers Madhu Neelakandan and N. Shanmuga Sundaram, while music is composed by Rajesh Murugesan.

Muthu Alias Kaattaan is scheduled to premiere on JioHotstar on March 27 and will be available in seven languages — Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi and Bengali.
