Adah Sharma reveals title of her superhero film ‘Super Velli’

Mumbai, Mar 13: Actress Adah Sharma has unveiled the title of her upcoming superhero film, Super Velli, in which she plays an unconventional and chaotic superhero.

Directed by Rajesh Bachchani, the film features Sharma as a lazy and unpredictable superhero whose powers could potentially destroy the world rather than save it.

Explaining the quirky title, Sharma said the idea emerged after a social media post she shared earlier was misinterpreted by some media outlets.

“A few days ago I posted a video saying ‘I’m Velli’, and some news channels reported that I was idle and out of work. People told me to clarify it, but then I thought—what would Velli do? She’d probably be too lazy to correct it. So in the spirit of being Velli, here’s Super Velli. With great power comes great responsibility,” she said.

Director Bachchani praised Sharma’s versatility and recalled her performance as Bhavna Reddy in the Commando film series. He said her blend of sharp intelligence, humor, and action made her the perfect fit for the character. Bachchani also revealed that he has been developing the script for nearly three years, promising audiences something fresh and unconventional.

Following the massive attention around The Kerala Story, Sharma is now stepping into a completely different genre. The upcoming film blends satire, chaos, and comedy, presenting a superhero who would rather nap than save the world, yet somehow ends up caught in bizarre and unpredictable situations.

The teaser suggests a far-from-traditional hero—clumsy and carefree at times, but unexpectedly brilliant when the situation demands it.

Sharma also recently addressed speculation about why she is not part of the sequel to The Kerala Story. She said she prefers to discuss only the projects she is involved in and believes conversations about casting decisions should remain between the filmmakers and actors.

She added that while the first film focused on ISIS recruitment and training camps in Afghanistan, the sequel is expected to explore a completely different storyline.
