Modi accuses Congress of politicising global crisis, defends govt efforts

Ernakulam, Mar 11: Narendra Modi on Wednesday accused the Indian National Congress of politicising a major global crisis, alleging that the party was making “provocative and irresponsible statements” that could worsen the situation for Indians abroad.

Addressing a gathering in Ernakulam, the Prime Minister said India’s missions and embassies in Gulf countries were providing round-the-clock assistance to citizens and that friendly governments in the region were taking care of Indians.

Modi said it was “a grave misfortune” that the Congress was trying to gain political mileage during the crisis. He alleged that the party was deliberately making statements to escalate tensions so that Indians remain stuck in the situation and political campaigns could be launched against him.

“Congress is deliberately making provocative and irresponsible statements to worsen the situation so that our people stay stuck in that crisis, and then these people can start a campaign to make reels abusing Modi,” he said.

During the event, Modi also launched multiple development projects in Ernakulam, stating that the initiatives would promote industrial growth, boost tourism and improve the ease of living for people in Kerala.

The Prime Minister said expanding the petroleum sector is vital for building an Atmanirbhar Bharat and strengthening the Make in India initiative. He noted that the foundation stone for a polypropylene unit at the Kochi Refinery was laid with the same objective.

Modi added that India is receiving global recognition for its large-scale investments in modern infrastructure and highlighted that the Union Budget this year has allocated record funds for infrastructure development.

He said Kerala is among the states benefiting significantly from the Centre’s push for infrastructure expansion.
