Mumbai, Mar 11: The trailer of Ek Din was released on Wednesday, offering a glimpse into the romantic drama starring Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi.

Junaid, the son of Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, plays a man secretly in love with Sai Pallavi’s character, who remains unaware of his feelings. In the trailer, he describes himself as a “haara hua aashiq” (a lover who has lost) and wishes that the woman he loves would fall in love with him, even if only for a day.

The trailer shows the two characters sharing a series of warm moments together, though it appears that Junaid’s character may be misreading her gestures. The teaser ends dramatically with Sai Pallavi slapping him, hinting at emotional conflict in the story.

The film marks Sai Pallavi’s Bollywood debut. The actress, widely acclaimed for her performances in South Indian cinema, is also set to appear in Ramayana directed by Nitesh Tiwari, alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Yash.

Ek Din has been largely shot in Japan and is inspired by the Thai film One Day, which was also extensively filmed in the country. The trailer also features a brief appearance by actor Kunal Kapoor.

The movie marks the directorial debut of Sunil Pandey, who previously worked on films such as Laal Singh Chaddha and Delhi Belly.

The film is scheduled to release in theatres on May 1.

Earlier, Aamir Khan had revealed that Junaid had auditioned for the lead role in Laal Singh Chaddha, but he chose not to launch his son with that film, saying he did not want to “fool the audience” by producing a movie solely for him if he was not ready for the role.
