St Sebastian Church parishioners undertake pilgrimage to Velankani shrine

Mangaluru, Mar 10: Parishioners of St Sebastian Church, Bendur undertook a pilgrimage to the Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health, Velankani from March 5 to March 8. A total of 39 pilgrims participated in the pilgrimage under the spiritual leadership of parish priest Fr Walter D’Souza.

The pilgrims began their journey from the church premises on March 5. The journey was marked by a prayerful atmosphere with the recitation of the rosary, Way of the Cross, devotional hymns and prayers along the way.

The group reached Velankani on March 6. After lunch, the pilgrims visited the shrine and offered prayers at the Main Basilica and spent time in silent prayer at the Adoration Chapel. Later, they also visited the Velankani beach.

Holy Mass was offered at the Upper Basilica by Fr Walter D’Souza on March 7. Special prayers were offered for the parishioners and for peace in the world. The pilgrims also prayed the Way of the Cross-seeking God’s blessings and protection.

During their stay, the pilgrims visited the Lower Basilica, Morning Star Church, Our Lady’s Pond (Sacred Pond), the Stations of the Cross, Sacred Heart statue and the Church museum. They lit candles and offered personal prayers at the shrine.

After lunch, the pilgrims began their return journey and safely reached St Sebastian Church, Bendur on March 8.

The pilgrimage proved to be a deeply spiritual and memorable experience for all the participants. The pilgrims expressed gratitude to Fr Walter D’Souza for his guidance and spiritual leadership throughout the journey. The tour strengthened the faith of the participants and provided them with an opportunity for prayer, reflection, and community bonding.
