Udupi: Malabar Gold & Diamonds celebrates International Women’s Day, felicitates achievers

Udupi, Mar 9: Marking International Women’s Day, Malabar Gold & Diamonds organized a special programme at its Udupi branch on March 8, where several women achievers from different fields were felicitated for their contributions to society.

The honourees included, Malpe coastal security police sub-inspector Violet Femina, Udupi City Municipality staff member Chitralekha Chowdawwa, entrepreneur Vidyalatha U Shetty, social worker Anita D’Souza Belman, principal of Hoode Salihat Women’s First Grade College Dr Sabina, Nagi Kulal, and Maya Kamath.

Speaking after receiving the honour, sub-inspector Violet Femina urged women to immediately approach the police control room whenever they face injustice or feel helpless. She assured that the police department is always ready to support and protect women. She also emphasized that maintaining a healthy society requires strict adherence to law and order.

President of the Malpe Fishermen’s Primary Cooperative Society Satish Kunder appreciated Malabar Gold & Diamonds for organizing a meaningful programme that recognizes and honours women achievers. He said that institutions conducting such people-oriented initiatives deserve encouragement and support from society.

Therapist Tanuja Maben and model Vidya Saraswati also addressed the gathering as chief guests.

On the occasion, flowers were presented to the women staff members of the Malabar Gold & Diamonds Udupi branch as a gesture of appreciation for their contribution.

Retired lecturer Dayananda compered the programme.

Mustafa A K, branch head; Purandara Thingalaya, branch manager; Tanzeem Shirva, marketing manager; Vignesh, staff members and others were present on the occasion.
