Udupi, Mar 9: Marking the occasion of International Women’s Day, the renowned jewellery showroom ‘The Original Abharan’ organized the 'AbhaRun – Women’s Day Run 2026', at Ajjarkad Ground, Brahmagiri in Udupi on March 8.
The event, themed 'Run for Her, Run with Her', aimed at celebrating the strength, resilience and achievements of women while promoting health, inclusivity and community bonding. The run witnessed enthusiastic participation from runners of different age groups, including men and women, who gathered early in the morning to take part in the event.

















































The Abharun was conducted in three categories – 10K timed run, 5K timed run and 3K fun run (non-timed), allowing both runners and fitness enthusiasts to participate.
The 10K run was flagged off by Udupi MLA Yashpal A Suvarna, while the 5K run was flagged off by Subhas M Kamath, and Mahesh M Kamath of Abharan Jewellers. The 3K fun run flagged off by Dr Pratap of KMC Manipal, saw participation from families, youngsters and fitness enthusiasts who joined the run in a spirit of celebration and togetherness. The run was organized under the direction of Likhith Shivaprasad.
Speaking on the occasion MLA Yashpal Suvarna said that participating in sports and running helps improve both mental and physical health, contributing to overall well-being. He appreciated the organisers for conducting such a meaningful program and extended his best wishes to all participants.
The special attraction of the day was the 5K run by dour members of Akka Pade, who were felicitated on the occasion of Women’s Day. Dr Girija Rao of Sonia Clinic Manipal, Dr Shubhageetha, Dr Gawri and Dr Shobha were also felicitated The Original Abharan on the occasion.
The prizes were distributed to the winners of the 10K and 5K run, with separate categories for men and women, further divided into age groups.
In the 10K run, the first-place winners received a cash prize of Rs 15,000 along with a memento and medal, while the second-place winners received Rs 10,000, memento and medal and the third-place winners were awarded Rs 5,000, memento and medal.
In the 5K run, the first-place winners were awarded Rs 10,000, memento and medal, the second-place winners received Rs 5,000, memento and medal, and the third-place winners received Rs 2,000 along with a memento and medal.
All participants who completed the race were presented with finisher medals, recognizing their effort and participation.
To ensure a smooth and safe event, the organisers arranged hydration zones, medical support and volunteers along the route. Participants were also served community breakfast after the run, symbolising celebration, unity and shared achievement.

Sandhya S Kamath, Veena M Kamath, Satvik S Kamath and Akash M Kamath of The Original Abharan; Dinesh Shettigar, marketing manager, Panchami Nayak, Vinay Nayak, staff members of Abharan Jewellers and participants were present on the occasion.
