Udupi, March 8: Melwyn Aranha of Shirva has been elected as the new president of Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh for the term 2026–27.
The election of the new office-bearers took place during a meeting held on Sunday at Anugraha Pastoral Centre, Kakkunje. Former president of the central committee Alwyn Quadras served as the election officer, while Valerian Fernandes was the election observer.

The newly elected office-bearers are as follows:
Spiritual director – Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves
Immediate past president – Ronald Almeida, Udyavar
President elect – Louis D’Souza, Sasthan
Vice president – Mable D'Souza, Basrur
General secretary – Juliet D’Souza, Pangala
Joint secretary – Sonu Sequeira, Karkala
Treasurer – Garrifield Urban Lewis, Brahmavar
Joint treasurer – Preethma D’Souza, Karkala
Catholic Sabha is one of the most influential lay organizations in the Udupi Diocese. The organisation actively engages in various social initiatives while promoting political awareness among the Christian community. It has its units in around 51 churches across the diocese.
