VSO-MAHE to host 'TARANG 2026' kite-flying festival celebrating volunteering, sustainability

Udupi, Mar 6: The Volunteer Services Organisation of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, an Institution of Eminence Deemed to be University (VSO-MAHE), will host the 12th edition of its annual kite-flying festival, TARANG 2026, on Sunday, March 8, at End Point Ground, Manipal, from 4:00 pm onwards. With the United Nations declaring 2026 as the International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development, this year’s edition of TARANG is dedicated to honouring the transformative power of volunteerism in building resilient, sustainable communities. Under the theme 'Volunteering for Sustainable Skies', TARANG 2026 seeks to inspire a collective commitment to environmental responsibility while showcasing the vital role volunteers play in enhancing global sustainable development goals.

TARANG has evolved into one of the most anticipated student-led events at MAHE, attracting 4,000-5,000 attendees annually. Over the years, the festival has evolved into a vibrant community celebration that unites students, faculty, families, alumni, and members of the general public. The event aims to promote environmental responsibility, teamwork, and the importance of volunteerism among students and the wider community.

TARANG 2026 reflects this enduring commitment by combining recreation with a strong message of sustainability and civic engagement.
