Chandigarh, Mar 7: A 21-year-old state-level hockey player was allegedly stabbed to death following a property dispute with relatives at her residence in Sector 38, Chandigarh on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Tania. According to police, the incident occurred amid a long-standing dispute between two families living in the same house over ownership of the property.

In a complaint filed with the Chandigarh Police, the victim’s father Ravi, an auto-rickshaw driver, stated that his sister and her family reside on the first floor of the house and that tensions had persisted for years over possession of the property.
Ravi alleged that his nephew Krishna frequently quarrelled with him regarding the issue. On Thursday afternoon, a heated argument broke out between the two families. Ravi said he had gone upstairs to pacify his sister’s family and was returning downstairs when Tania went up.
According to the complaint, Krishna, along with Ravi, Gangan, Aniket, Naveen and Tina, allegedly attacked Tania during the altercation. During the scuffle, Krishna reportedly stabbed her near the waist with a knife, leaving her critically injured.
Tania was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
Following the incident, police from Sector 39 Police Station, Chandigarh reached the spot and registered a case based on the complaint lodged by the victim’s father. Officials said raids are being conducted to trace and arrest the accused.
The victim’s father said Tania had recently completed her graduation and was an accomplished hockey player. She was scheduled to leave on Friday to participate in a state-level tournament.
