Patna, Mar 6: Nitish Kumar has emerged as the candidate with the lowest declared assets among those who have filed nominations for the Rajya Sabha elections in Bihar, according to affidavits submitted by the contenders.
As per the declaration, the Nitish Kumar, who serves as the Chief Minister of Bihar, has total movable and immovable assets worth Rs 1.66 crore. His annual income for the financial year 2024–25 has been listed at Rs 7.87 lakh.

The affidavit states that Kumar has Rs 20,552 in cash, while his movable assets are valued at around Rs 17.91 lakh. His jewellery holdings include a 20-gram gold ring and a pearl-studded silver ring, with a combined value of approximately Rs 2.37 lakh.
He also owns a Ford EcoSport purchased in 2015 for Rs 11.32 lakh. Kumar’s only immovable property is a 1,000-square-foot flat in the Parliament Cooperative Housing Society in Dwarka, Delhi. The property was bought in 2004 for Rs 13.78 lakh and is currently estimated to be worth around Rs 1.48 crore.
In contrast, the candidate with the highest declared assets is Amarendra Dhari Singh, also known as AD Singh, the nominee of Rashtriya Janata Dal. His affidavit lists total assets of about Rs 243 crore, including Rs 206.98 crore in movable assets and Rs 36.03 crore in immovable property.
Singh has Rs 4.5 lakh in cash and jewellery comprising 43.20 grams of gold and 5 kg of silver. His vehicle assets include cars from Toyota and Hyundai, including a Hyundai Venue.
Among other candidates, Ramnath Thakur of Janata Dal (United) has declared assets worth Rs 3.12 crore, comprising Rs 1.64 crore in movable assets and Rs 1.48 crore in immovable property. His annual income for 2024–25 stands at Rs 35.77 lakh, with Rs 1.26 lakh in cash.
Nitin Nabin, national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the state, has declared movable assets of around Rs 1.16 crore, while his wife owns movable assets worth Rs 84 lakh. Though Nabin does not own immovable property in his name, his wife holds assets valued at about Rs 1.47 crore. His affidavit shows Rs 55,000 in cash and nearly Rs 62 lakh in bank deposits. He also owns a Mahindra Scorpio and a Toyota Innova Crysta, along with an outstanding loan of around Rs 32 lakh.
Another BJP nominee, Shivesh Kumar, has declared an annual income of Rs 24.35 lakh, while his wife earns Rs 6.57 lakh annually. He has Rs 2.24 lakh in cash and about Rs 24 lakh in bank and financial institution deposits. Kumar owns vehicles including a Mahindra Scorpio, a Maruti car and a Toyota Innova Crysta. His movable assets are valued at around Rs 98 lakh, while his immovable property is worth approximately Rs 2.72 crore, with an outstanding loan of about Rs 12.20 lakh.
Meanwhile, Upendra Kushwaha, chief of the Rashtriya Lok Morcha, has declared movable assets worth Rs 44.94 lakh and immovable assets worth Rs 35 lakh. His affidavit mentions Rs 70,000 in cash, 10 grams of gold, and ownership of a Toyota car.
