Patna, Mar 5: Four people lost their lives in a tragic road accident on Thursday near Khopa Chowk along National Highway 27 under the Phulparas police station limits in Madhubani district of Bihar.
According to police, a Scorpio SUV bearing a Haryana registration number collided head-on with a truck. The impact of the crash was extremely severe, leaving the vehicle completely mangled.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the Scorpio, which was travelling from Darbhanga, allegedly crossed the road divider near Khopa Chowk and entered the wrong lane before crashing into the oncoming truck. Authorities suspect that wrong-side driving may have caused the accident.

The deceased have been identified as residents of Kurukshetra district in Haryana — Sanjeev Kumar, Kapil Kumar, and Vikas Kumar. The identity of the fourth victim is yet to be confirmed. Police said the occupants of the Scorpio had come to Bihar on a visit.
Station House Officer Vikram Acharya stated that the collision was extremely intense. One victim died on the spot, while three others, who were critically injured, succumbed to their injuries while being taken to a sub-divisional hospital in Jhanjharpur.
The bodies have been sent to Sadar Hospital in Madhubani for post-mortem examination. Meanwhile, the truck driver, who sustained injuries, has been admitted to hospital and detained for questioning.
Traffic movement on NH-27 was briefly disrupted following the accident, but authorities later diverted vehicles through alternate routes to restore normal flow. Police are continuing their investigation to determine whether negligence or lane violation led to the crash.
