Bicholim, Mar 3: A 4.7-foot crocodile was rescued from a well at Teerthbhagh in Mayem on Tuesday following a swift operation by local wildlife rescuers.
The reptile was spotted inside a well belonging to a local resident in the area, triggering an alert to authorities and animal rescue volunteers.

The operation was led by Amrut Singh, President of the Animal Rescue Squad, along with team members Angad Kamat, Bhumi Jain, Anuj Fulari and Mayuri Patil. The rescuers carefully secured the crocodile using specialised equipment to ensure there was no harm to the animal or residents.
After being safely retrieved, the crocodile was released into a suitable natural habitat away from human habitation.
The timely intervention ensured the safety of locals while protecting the reptile, underlining the importance of prompt response and coordinated wildlife rescue efforts in the region.
