Panaji, Mar 2: Pramod Sawant on Sunday announced plans to establish 168 libraries across village panchayats and municipalities in Goa, with 20 libraries already operational as part of the state government’s initiative to promote reading at the grassroots level.
The chief minister said local self-governing bodies have been encouraged to take the lead in developing and maintaining libraries in their respective areas to foster a strong reading culture among residents.

Sawant also revealed that an e-library project, supported through grants from the Central government, will soon be rolled out across the state. The digital initiative aims to improve access to books and educational resources by making them available online.
The move is intended to expand learning opportunities and ensure that both physical and digital library services reach communities throughout Goa.
