Mumbai, Mar 1: Weeks after announcing his retirement from playback singing, Arijit Singh has made a return to music with his first independent track, “Raina,” released on Friday in collaboration with Sheykhar Ravjiani.
The song, composed by Sheykhar Ravjiani with lyrics by Priya Saraiya, was released on the YouTube channel Garuudaa Musiic and quickly drew praise from fans for Arijit’s soulful rendition.

Commenters celebrated the track, with one fan writing, “Arijit Singh jesa singer koi nh bhot different and dil sy gany wala,” while another said, “Arijit once again proved that he is the number one singer in the country.”
Arijit had announced his retirement from playback singing in January, citing his love for classical music and a desire to focus on projects he truly enjoys. However, he clarified on X that he will continue completing pending songs from earlier assignments, which are expected to release over the coming months, possibly extending into next year.
In his message to fans, he wrote: “Although I have stopped taking new assignments, the list of pending songs is not small. I will have to complete many songs. Don’t get involved in explaining things to people. There are so many unfinished songs; they will keep releasing until they are done — maybe throughout this year, maybe even into next year. Be peaceful. Read, love, meditate. Jay Devi!”
Adding to the excitement, Arijit recently performed in Kolkata alongside , with videos and pictures from the concert going viral on social media, further delighting his fans.
