New Delhi, Feb 27: The Congress on Friday February 27, 2026 termed the discharge of former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal in the liquor policy case as a “predictable script” of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), alleging that proceedings against its “convenient allies” in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and others would quietly fade ahead of the Gujarat and Punjab elections.
Reacting to a Delhi court’s decision to discharge Kejriwal in the excise policy case, Congress leaders claimed the development exposed what they described as the BJP’s selective use of investigative agencies.

The party alleged that cases against opposition leaders are pursued aggressively when politically expedient and diluted when electoral calculations change. It said the timing of the court order raised questions, especially with key Assembly elections approaching in Gujarat and Punjab.
In a sharp attack, the Congress described the BJP as a “shape-shifter, a wishful serpent — Icchadhari Naag,” accusing it of altering its stance based on political convenience.
There was no immediate response from the BJP or the AAP to the Congress remarks.
