Port Blair, Feb 24: A helicopter operated by Pawan Hans made a crash-landing in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Tuesday following a mid-air technical snag. All seven persons on board were rescued safely, and no injuries were reported.
According to a spokesperson of Pawan Hans, the helicopter had taken off from Port Blair at around 9.30 am with two crew members and five passengers. During the flight, it experienced what was described as a “short landing incident” near Mayabunder.

Emergency response teams rushed to the site immediately after the incident and successfully evacuated all occupants. The aircraft has since been grounded for inspection, officials said.
The incident occurred a day after a tragic air accident in Jharkhand, where a Beechcraft C90 aircraft operated by Redbird Airways Pvt Ltd crashed in Chatra district on Monday night. The aircraft was on a medical evacuation mission from Ranchi to Delhi when it went down, killing all seven people on board.
Authorities are expected to conduct a detailed technical assessment of the Pawan Hans helicopter to ascertain the cause of the snag.
